Website accessibility

As web professionals who believe in standards we make sure our sites are designed and built responsibly, allowing them to be accessed by the widest possible audience.

Web standards

All pages on this site aim to validate as . As this language is still in development we aim to monitor its progress ensuring we meet with technical specifications and guidelines, both now and in the future. We believe all website information should be accessible regardless of the browser used and so have designed and built this website using current web standards to meet this criteria. We support standards-compliant browsers as our main priority, but make use of progressive enhancement to ensure delivery of information to all browsers.

Browser differences

This website makes use of layout and visual techniques made available with the CSS3 specification, and these methods are supported within Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Opera and the forthcoming release of Internet Explorer 9. Users browsing with IE8 or below and older browsers will still be able to access all information with a slightly reduced visual experience where necessary, following progressive enhancement best-practice.

Along with Microsoft themselves we encourage Internet Explorer 6 users to upgrade or simply download a leading browser such as Firefox or Chrome which will give you a much better internet experience. They are also free and download in seconds.

Content & structure

This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout, and JavaScript for behaviour. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, or if stylesheets are disabled, the content of each page will still be readable. If JavaScript is unavailable or disabled, any behavioural functions will degrade and all content will remain accessible. Most of the text on this website can be increased or decreased in size using built-in browser tools. However, to maintain appearance we recommend using a modern browser with text-zoom facilities.
